What is Cryptocurrency?
A digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. A cryptocurrency is difficult to counterfeit because of this security feature. A defining feature of a cryptocurrency is that it is not issued by any central authority, rendering it theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation.

Is Cryptocurrency legal?

California Implements Assembly Bill (AB) 129, Legalizes Bitcoin and Other Digital Currencies. 

California is the first state in the union to legalize the use of bitcoin and other digital currencies. Jerry Brown, governor of California, was responsible for the implementation of the bill on January 1, 2015.
AB 129, the bill that repeals Section 107 of the California Corporations Code, pushes for the use of reward points, gift certificates, and virtual currencies as viable forms of payments in addition to the US dollar.

And now crytocurrency is legal in most of  the world.
